Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS para que serve?

Vamos começar aqui pela explicação do porque usar uma versão "sem suporte" do ubuntu, nesse caso o ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS (Long Term Support).
Eu, estando sem nenhum PC em casa arrumei um tempo para caçar peças que clientes deixam aqui em upgrades, substituições de peças etc., juntei placa, pente de memória DDR 1, fonte ATX, monitor AOC (com a tela cheia de riscos no display), teclado e mouse óbvio não é..., dai então segui a montagem e fui em busca do principal assunto da nossa prosa o liveCD do ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS codinome Lucid Lynx

Feita a instalação como de normal neste PC descrito abaixo:

Fiquei com um sistema totalmente desatualizado devido ele estar sem suporte como já mencionei mais acima, porém há como usar as últimas versões dos aplicativos da versão, para isso siga os passos abaixo.



Abra um terminal e comande:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

No editor mude tudo de:
http://br.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/

Para:
http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/

Veja a minha sources.list como esta (você também pode copiar daqui e colar na sua) reparando que aqui é lucid:
